We have a large collection of books, information folders and photographs in our library. Many of these are indexed in our computer database to make searching for people, places, events, boats etc. quick and simple.
Members of the public are welcome to come in and do their own research. Our on-duty volunteers will be happy to assist you, but if you need the assistance of a research specialist you should phone or email to arrange an appointment. There is no charge for this, but donations are always greatly appreciated.
If you would like us to do the research for you we do charge a fee as follows:
$5 per half-hour, subject to a minimum of $10 to be paid upfront.
Points to Note
Our research will be restricted to the resources of our Museum and Library, but we may suggest other sources that we consider relevant, which you can then pursue at your own discretion.
Note that we will not provide the names or details of other potential people to talk to without their express permission.
Upon receipt of your request we will reply to you with:
- The estimated number of hours required to complete the research on your behalf;
- The expected date for delivering the results of your research; and
- Our confidence level in being able to help provide the information required.
After we have provided this information we will ask you to confirm in writing that you wish us to continue with the request. In this case we will require an initial payment of $10.
Payment may be made at the museum (cash or Eftpos) or by bank transfer to BSB 037-015, Account 301518 Account Name: Channel Museum, quoting your name and "Research" as reference.
