CHANNEL HERITAGE MEMORIAL WALL

20220414_141423

The Channel Museum has established a memorial wall on which plaques can be placed to recognise and celebrate contributions made to the Channel community.

To be eligible to have a plaque placed on the wall, one of the following criteria must be met:

  1. PIONEERS: Persons or families that settled in the Channel area prior to 1900.
  2. CHANNEL RESIDENTS: Persons or families that have lived in the Channel area for 20 years or more.
  3. ACHIEVEMENTS: Persons who have lived in the Channel area and achieved something noteworthy (e.g., war service, sport, or community service); OR persons who have made a significant contribution to the Channel community (e.g., through leadership or representation).

We recognise that there will be some ‘grey areas’ in relation to these criteria, so please feel free to have a talk with one of our volunteers.

The cost of a plaque is $135, which includes a suitable inscription of up to 100 characters (using your own words). It is possible to include more characters, but there will be an additional fee of $10 for every 40 characters or part thereof. It is strongly recommended that you use no more than 140 characters, as the readability of the plaque will be diminished.

If you wish to purchase a plaque and have it placed on the wall, please complete the attached application form and return it together with a payment of $135 to:

The Coordinator, Channel Heritage Memorial Wall, 1755 Channel Highway, Margate, Tasmania, 7054

Payment may be made by cash, cheque, EFTPOS, or direct credit. If direct credit, please include your name when prompted for a reference or details.
